What penis size do women prefer?

Table of contents

It is perhaps one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the world of men. The answer to the question of which penis size women actually prefer divides opinion. Funnily enough, this discussion is often led by men without involving women. A study has now finally provided scientifically sound answers. We have summarized everything you need to know.

Aim of the study: What erect penis size do women prefer for long-term partners and one-night stands?

The study conducted is the first study on the topic of perfect erect penis size from the perspective of women. In the past, there have been studies that have looked at women’s preferred penis size, but these only focused on the preferred size of the flaccid penis. This study, however, focused on the ideal erect penis size and whether there are differences between long-term partners and one-night stands in this respect. The study was conducted with 75 women of different ages, who were asked to determine the ideal erect penis size using penis-like 3D models.

How did the study work?

The women were not selected for the study, but actively applied to take part. It was required that they be heterosexual and over 18 years old. The participants were not only allowed to look at the penis-like models, but also to touch them. In addition to physical contact with the models, they also had to answer 15 questions about the perfect penis size. The determination of the ideal erect penis size was therefore not only based on mental estimates or memories of past sexual partners.

In addition to interesting results on the ideal length and thickness, the study also identified different preferences between one-night stands and permanent partnerships..

Women want more than the average

The study shows that women in a steady relationship prefer an average erect penis length of 16 cm and an average length of 16.3 cm for one-night stands. According to the participants, the perfect circumference of an erect penis is 12.2 cm for a steady partner and 12.7 cm for a one-night stand.

Compared to the global average, men are therefore a good four centimetres short.

Penis length is not equal to penis length: it depends on the measurement method

There are two different measurement methods for determining the erect penis length, which are very similar but can lead to very different measurement results. The erect penis can be measured using either the NBPEL or the BPEL method.

With the None-Bone-Pressed-Erect-Length (NBPEL), the measurement is only taken on the visible part of the penis. The measuring device is not pressed up to the pubic bone, but is only applied to the abdominal skin above the abdominal fat layer. This results in shorter measurement values than with the Bone-Pressed-Erect-Length (BPEL). This is because the part of the penis that is not visible and is covered by the abdominal fat layer is also measured by pressing the measuring device onto the pubic bone. The total or actual erect penis length is therefore measured.

Shown is a drawn side view of an erect penis to compare the NBPEL (Non-Bone-Pressed Erect Length) and BPEL (Bone-Pressed Erect Length) measurement methods. Arrows and lines also indicate the pubic bone, the NBPEL, the BPEL, and the abdominal fat layer, with the description noting that the fat layer is at least 0.5 cm thick.

Visible or total erect penis length

The women in the study stated that the perfect erect penis should be between 16 and 16.3 cm long. If you wanted to measure your own penis for comparison, this value corresponds to the measurement using the NBPEL method, as the women only assessed the visible or tangible length of the penis by looking at and touching the penis models. In almost all studies, however, the erect penis length is determined using the BPEL method. This is because the BPEL method is the most accurate measurement method for determining the erect penis length. Measuring from the pubic bone means that the “whole” penis is measured and, because the position of the pubic bone in the body does not change, significantly fewer measurement errors are made.

In order to be able to compare the ideal erect penis length from this study with the average erect penis length from other studies, a corresponding correction must therefore be made to bring the BPEL and NBPEL methods into line.

NBPEL = BPEL – Abdominal Fat Layer

An erect penis with an ideal NBPEL of 16-16.3 cm corresponds to a BPEL of at least 16.5-17.3 cm, as BPEL measurements are typically 0.5-1 cm longer, depending on the thickness of the abdominal fat layer.

Written as a formula:

BPEL = NBPEL + Abdominal Fat Layer

NBPEL = BPEL – Abdominal Fat Layer

The thicker the abdomen, the shorter the penis appears

The higher the body fat percentage, the thicker the abdominal fat layer usually is. And the thicker the abdominal fat layer, the shorter the penis. Don’t worry, the penis doesn’t actually shrink when the abdominal girth increases, it’s just hidden by it. Even if you go to the gym every day and eat only chicken breast and rice, your belly fat layer will be at least 0.5 to one centimeter thick. So even on a perfect Adonis body, you could never determine the true erect penis length 100% using the NBPEL method. This is because a part of your penis will always be covered by the abdominal fat layer, no matter how slim you may be. The NBPEL method can only ever be used to determine the visible erect penis length that is not covered by the abdominal fat layer.

Ideal and average erect penis size in comparison

The actual erect penis length can therefore only be measured using the BPEL method. This is why it was also used in the largest meta-study on global average penis size, which we reported on in our other article. If we were to compare the two studies without taking into account the differences between the BPEL and NBPEL methods, this would lead to a distorted result. This is because the women determined their perfect penis size solely on the basis of the visible or perceptible length, which corresponds to a measurement using the NBPEL method. And, as already explained, this is always smaller than the BPEL method. For many men, this would be the second piece of bad news we have to deliver. This is because the average erect penis worldwide is up to 4 centimetres short of the ideal length for women.

Ideal erect penis length (NBPEL) = 16-16.3 cm ≙ BPEL of at least 16.5-17.3 cm.

Average erect penis length according to the largest study (BPEL) 13.12 cm.

When it comes to the circumference of the erect penis, the average and ideal measurements are not quite so far apart. According to the study, the ideal girth should be between 12.2 and 12.7 centimeters. On average, men reach 11.66 centimeters, which is only a maximum of one centimeter below the ideal.

How can the result be interpreted?

The fact is that women indicate a significantly longer erect penis than the average as the ideal size. When it comes to girth, women also like it to be slightly larger than average, even if not quite as much. It is also interesting to note that women prefer larger penises in short relationships or one-off sex than in a permanent partnership. It is assumed that during a one-night stand, the lack of psychological connection to the sexual partner, which can be decisive for a woman’s ability to orgasm during sex, is compensated for by a larger penis. The lack of mental stimulation is therefore compensated for by increased physical stimulation. For more precise correlations, however, more information would have to be collected and further studies conducted.

How conclusive is the study?

The study has so far only been conducted with 75 women. Most of them were from California, which is why there is still no real significance with regard to global preferences. However, this first study could already be a good indicator that reality and perfection do not always meet between a man’s legs. But men, don’t worry. When it comes down to it, even after this study, only very few women will take out a ruler to measure your best piece. Because of course, even after this study, the penis is only one part of the big picture.
